About 827
UA local 827, or the Lead Burners, evolved out of the need for high quality Acid Plant and Cell House fabrication and maintenance solutions.
This is a specialized industry that requires our members to be highly trained in order to
fabricate, support and maintain the complex systems used by the Smelting industry.
Our Local operates primarily out of Montreal Quebec but our members work across Canada in a wide range of support and maintenance roles. While the Local is small we are part of the United Association of Plumbers, Stream Fitters and Welders of the United States and Canada, a trades union with over 350,000 members across North America.
We fabricate and install a variety of industrial products such as:
- Wet mist precipitators, humidifying towers, drying towers and acid storage tanks used in the metal and mining industry with the smelting of lead, zinc, copper and nickel.
- Corrosion resistance linings such as autoclaves used in the pressure leaching process (Gold and zinc),electrowinning process, lead anodes metal finishing plating tanks and lead radiation shielding.
